SHERWIN-WILLIAMS SUNMIGHT DISTRIBUTOR
high quality coated abrasive products
to North American Customer.

Advantages
-
Film is better than paper. Paper is porous, causing each abrasive grain to be irregularly distributed on the sheet. The result is uneven sanding and sand scratch patterns.
-
Film is waterproof. Film backing is made of polyester (the same material used in water bottles) which enables our film to be used for wet sanding. A DA sander can now be used to wet-sand without the backing breaking down, which happens with paper.
-
Film is durable. Sanding discs are designed to be slightly larger than the pad. As a result, paper backing tears easily and is wasted. Film backing is extremely durable and difficult to tear.
-
Mineral Adhesion. Most abrasives use a combination of glue over resin. Sunmight Abrasives use a combination of resin over resin. The result is a stronger adhesive bond for a longer lasting product that prevents shelling.
-
PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive). Sunmight Abrasives Utilizes an advanced technology which allows it to release easily and be readusted, while maintaing excellent adhering power.
-
Waterproof Paper. Sunmight Abrasives uses an innovative Japanese mineral which is more accurate than that of our competition. The end result is a more precise scratch pattern.
-
Quick Change Discs. The material used in our quick change discs is used worldwide and is well known for its quality and durability.
-
Paper-Backed Products. Sunmight paper products use the same high-quality abrasives as film-backed abrasives
-
80-Grit and Coarser. All 80-grit and coarser grits use the mineral Alumina Zirconia, which is Aluminum Oxide and Zirconium Oxide combined at molten temperatures. This combination produces an extremely durable product that is proven to outlast the competition.
Demonstrations
-
Durability Test 1: If you fold our film-backed product in half, it is extremely difficult to tear. Take any compeitor's 6" DA disc, fold it in half, and tear from the folded side. Do the same with our film-backed product; it won't tear.
-
Durabilty Test 2: Apply our 6' DA 80-grit to a DA sander. Sand a painted surface for three minutes (in one area) and see how much bare metal is showing. Then repeat the process with a compeitor's identical product. Compare the size of the bare metal on the two samples. Typically, ours is approximately 30% larger and you can still see scratch marks on the bare metal. The bare spot created by the competitor's product looks more polished because the mineral became dull and polished instead of cut.
-
Durability Test 3: Take our 36-grit air file paper and rub it against and competitor's 36-grit air file over a white sheet of paper. You will see that 95% of the removed grit that fell on the white sheet of paper is from the competitor's paper. This results of this demonstration are easier to distinguish when the competitor's sandpaper is a different color.
-
PSA Test: Pull the reslease paper off of any of our PSA discs, fold it in half so the sticky sides are touching each other, then pull them apart. Demonstrate how you can still use the paper. Do the same with the competitor's product, but show how difficult it is to pull the competitor's paper apart, which sometimes results in tearing.
-
Shelling Test: Fold our 36-grit of 40-grit air file in half. Do the same with the equivalent competitor's product. When you unfold the Sunmight product, you will not seee any of the grit coming off of the backing. The competitor's product will crack and lose grit (shelling).
